Lobregat turns over P2.7-M school projects in Mercedes PDF Print E-mail

Mayor Celso Lobregat yesterday led in the inauguration and turnover of two school buildings amounting to P2.7-million at Mercedes Central School, bringing to more than P136 million worth of projects that his administration had implemented in the said barangay since 2007.

Turned over to Mercedes Central School through DepEd City Schools Division Superintendent Pedro Melchor Natividad were the rehabilitated two-storey six-classroom building worth P1.3 million and the newly constructed Industrial Arts/Home Economics Building amounting to P1.4 million.

Mercedes is one of the first recipients of infrastructure projects, specifically the barangay hall, when Lobregat was elected mayor in 2004. The barangay hall has been expanded and improved last year.

Mercedes is also where the Lobregat administration started its massive school building program with the construction of a 2-storey 6 classroom building at the Mercedes Central School in 2007.

In his message, Lobregat said the city government under his administration had already implemented over P136 million worth of various infrastructure projects in Barangay Mercedes since 2007, the biggest bulk of which was worth P50.6 million in 2012 with the development of Mercedes Resettlement Area amounting to P37.8 million.

In 2007, Mercedes received P8.2 million worth of projects, of which P3.9 million went to the construction of a two-storey six-classroom building; P1.6 million in 2008, of which P1.2 million was for the construction of Mercedes-Lumbayao road, measuring 270 linear meters.

In 2009, the barangay received P4.7 million worth of various projects; P10.03 million in 2010; P28.6 million in 2011, of which P15.6 million went to the construction of Mercedes-Lumbayao Bridge and P10.4 million for the site development of the Mercedes Public Cemetery.

Also present during the inauguration were City Engineer Luis Vicente Despalo together with former City Social Welfare and Development Officer Francisco Barredo, BG Guingona, Violy Alejandro, Art Onrubia, Elong Natividad, Bong Atilano and the barangay officials headed by Chairperson Purificacion Delgado. — Vic Larato
