“If they keep on harassing me and will succeed in trying to count me out of the polls then I will support the other candidate but I’ll make it sure that my group remains intact.”

This was the strong message of former Zamboanga del Norte congressman Romeo “Nonong” Jalosjos to his political rivals whom he believes are trying to harass him with the main objective of putting him out of the mayoralty race in the May election.

“If worse comes to worst,” Jalosjos told newsmen during a press conference in Dakak Beach Resort during a post-Christmas and New Year’s party for barangay officials of Zamboanga the other day, he would give his support to District 2 Congressman Erbie A. Fabian who is vying for the mayoralty post under his “Fuerza Zamboanga” ticket.
He assured that “I’ll keep my group intact until the last minute.”

“To run and serve the people of Zamboanga is not a criminal offense. What is bad if I want to be a voter? It’s the right of any individual. Let the people decide,” Jalosjos said as he emphasized that his opponents are really doing everything to stop him from running, thus depriving the people to choose the best leader to lead the city into the right direction.

“I will just ask permission from the second candidate (referring to Fabian). Allow us to support you and you don’t have to support us at all. You can run with your own group. I will keep my group intact. I might even spend for him (Fabian) and see to it he will win or in other words, I see to it that they (Lobregat’s and Climaco’s camp) will lose,”Jalosjos said.

“Erbie cannot do it alone but if I bring my whole group, he will have a very good chance. I am fed up with their antics,” Jalosjos added.

After officially declaring his candidacy, Jalosjos immediately founded the ZTZ or Zamboangueños for the Transformation of Zamboanga with almost 200, 000 members expressing support to his advocacy for a better Zamboanga. — Jimmy Villaflores
