A batch of 109 Filipinos who were deported by the Malaysian government Friday arrived in the city Saturday evening on board M/V Danica Joy 2 of the Aleson Shipping Lines..

It was the first arrival of Filipino deportees for the year 2013 as Malaysian government resumed its massive crackdown on illegal migrants in violation of immigration laws in that country.

For the past years Filipinos who were deported from Sabah arrived in the city aboard the same vessel. They  were arrested, detained and deported for either working without proper document or gained entry into Sabah by passing the country’s  backdoor.

They (deportees) were cleared by authorities and  allowed to disembark and were transported to the Processing Center for Displaced Person (PCDP) of the Department of Social Welfare (DSWD) in Mampang, this city for accommodations, food and transportation fares.

DSWD is spending million of pesos for these deportees.  PCDP personnel are working overtime for documentation to fast track in sending the deportees to their place of origins.

In another development, Two barangay kagawads, Jet Tan and Beth Tamudmud of Barangay Zone IV were able to facilitate the repatriation of the remains of OFW, Reynaldo Luna Bonifacio of Sta. Barbara, this city who was killed at Sipitang, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The remains of Bonifacio arrived in this city Saturday evening aboard M/V Lady Danica Joy 2. —CondyCabaquit-DXVP News
