Business owners and entrepreneurs have until January 21 to process their permits renewal for 2013, but Mayor Celso Lobregat urges early processing to avoid the long queues and most importantly, the payment of penalties and other sanctions.

Lobregat said City Hall has extended business permit renewal hours during weekdays and even on weekends to accommodate clients who have limited time during weekdays.

Since January 2, the City Treasurer’s Office, City Licensing Division, the Tricycle Adjudication Board, the Computer Services Division and City Planning and Development Office and other concerned offices are open from 8am until 8pm Mondays through Fridays and from 8am until 5pm during Saturdays and Sundays.

Transactions for business permits renewal without penalties and sanctions will be until January 21, Monday.

Late filing would mean a 25 percent surcharge plus additional 2 percent for every month of delay.

The city expects over 9,000 businessmen to renew their licenses for 2013.

Lobregat issued a similar appeal to owners of motorized tricycles, whose last day for the renewal of franchises for 2013 also falls on January 21.

He said the extended business permit renewal hours is purposely to provide both motorized tricycle owners/ operators and business owners and entrepreneurs ample time to comply with the requirement.
