Men of the Coast Guard-Zamboanga and personnel of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, and Coast Guard K9 team recovered a sack of sea shells locally called “budyong” aboard a vessel docked at the local wharf yesterday morning.

Coast Guard-Zamboanga commander Eliezer Dalnay            disclosed that the banned items were found aboard M/V Ever Sweet around 4:30 a.m.

A sketchy report said the boat dropped anchor at the local wharf after arriving from Olutanga, Zamboanga Sibugay.

During inspection, government men found a sack loaded with budyong not supported with no pertinent papers.

Authorities were still trying to determine who owns the shells for further investigation.

After the confiscation of the banned items, authorities also inspected two other vessels but they yielded no banned items.

The seized items were turned over to BFAR for proper disposition. – Dan Toribio Jr.
