Several people from around Zamboanga City are set to gather at downtown’s main plaza on Monday for a prayer rally for change.

Organized by the Zamboangueños for the Transformation of Zamboanga (ZTZ), the event will be held at Plaza Pershing at 5:00 p.m. and will conclude at 7:00 p.m.
Vice mayoral aspirant Mercy Arquiza-Fernandez said the prayer rally for change is dubbed “Resos Para Lleba el Cambios na Ciudad de Zamboanga.”

“We will be praying for change, we will be praying over the damaging impact of the peace and order problem (killing, shooting and kidnapping) currently being experienced in the city and we will also be praying for peaceful elections,” Arquiza said.

Arquiza hopes that this time all Zamboangueños irrespective of their religious belief and political affiliation will unite for a change in this city.

“For too long our city has been facing this peace and order problem. So we are acting to solve this. So come be part of the prayer rally for change,” she said.

She called on all the Zamboangueño faithful residing in the city proper and remote areas in the city who can’t join the prayer rally at Plaza Pershing to light candles.

Meanwhile, the vice mayoral aspirant thanked City Administrator Antonio Orendain for allowing them to hold the prayer rally.

Arquiza also made clear that the event on Monday will not be a time to campaign or complain and blame anyone but a time to pray for change.

“We all want change... we want change in Zamboanga. We want change in our present situation. And we believe in the power of prayer,” Arquiza concluded. — HG
