Former commissioner of the National Commission for Indigenous Peoples and DZT columnist (Table Talk) Mike S. Apostol yesterday reported to the police that the back windshield of his car, a white Mitsubishi Lancer El, with plate no. WDW 796, was damaged when unidentified person or persons deliberately stoned it while parked outside the Apostol compound in Suterville.

Apostol who personally went to the central police station early yesterday morning to file the complaint which was lodged under police blotter no. 0607 requested the policeman on duty to investigate the incident since just a few meters in front of their compound is a 24-hour Internet Café and barely about 5 meters beside their house is a vulcanizing shop, where several “sicad-sicad” are parked overnight with their drivers sleeping thereon.

Suterville residents are also complaining of irritating noise after midnight coming from motorcycles with modified noisy mufflers that are racing each other in Punta Gavilan now known as the Datu Tabudjul Taupan road, the main highway of Suterville.

Resident are seeking the assistance of OIC City Chief-of-Police Sr. Supt. Edwin de Ocampo to check on these reports, since the gambling and racing activities in Suterville are done by non-residents of the subdivision whose characters and identities are dubious. Other incidents like house burglaries are also reported to the San Jose Gusu Barangay Office.

Apostol, who newly retired from the government service, said “we are one of the pioneer residents of Suterville and our family compound was already in Suterville in the early 60s. It was a peaceful subdivision but now it is a different place, the situation is alarming, new faces are seen everyday”.

“Police authorities and the city government must do something to bring back orderliness in Suterville which is the ‘first subdivision in the city’,” he said. — PR
