Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency PDEA) arrested a top drug pusher in Zamboanga del Norte after a brief shootout in Dapitan City last Saturday afternoon.

Wounded was Roel Acaylar, reportedly the number one in the PDEA list in the province.

A police report disclosed that a PDEA undercover agent pretended as buyer of shabu and closed deal  with Acaylar.

Acaylar reportedly sensed later that he was dealing with government agents which prompted him to elude arrest.

A brief chase ensued between Acaylar and PDEA operatives until the suspect was cornered at the house of a retired soldier identified as Col. Benjamin Cardino.

The lawmen tried to convince Acaylar to surrender, but he allegedly pulled out a .45 caliber pistol and opened fire which prompted the agents to return fire, wounding him. — Noning R. Antonio
