Police Regional Office-9 Director Chief Supt. Juanito Vaño,Jr led the inauguration of the new P5-million Tungawan Municipal Police Station.

Sourced out from funds of PRO-9, the new police station was built right in the heart of Tungawan proper where the local government unit purchased the lot for its location.

Tungawan Mayor Randy Climaco said the project marked a new beginning in his town and will serve as the marker for more progress and development, including the improvement of the peace and order condition in his municipality.    “This day is indeed memorable because we bear witness to the unveiling of this building which becomes our stature of progress in Tungawan. Around it will rise the new commercial center of our municipality, a million thanks to the PNP,” Climaco said.

He also expressed appreciation to General Vaño for personally gracing the occasion and for having the time to dialogue with him to discuss the present state of the peace and order in his town.

Climaco asked from the PRO-9 director for more extensive police patrols and visibility of troops from the Provincial Public Safety Company under the command of Chief Insp.  Rodrigo Maramo at critical areas of Tungawan.

Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Jonathan Perez lauded General Vaño for such project which will improve the working condition and accommodation of police personnel.

“For a long time, our policemen in Tungawan perform their job in a dilapidated building serving as their workstation.Now, it’s a new hope and indeed a blessing to us here, having the most modern three storey municipal police station, the first ever in Sibugay,”  Perez said.

In his brief message, General Vaño also commended the local government officials and residents of Tungawan for their countless efforts in helping the police in the maintenance of peace and order as well as their cooperation in the conduct of police operations.

Vaño appealed to the police personnel of the town who will occupy the new building to take care of it. --Bhong Simbajon
