Girl, 9, attacked by dog, is killed PDF Print E-mail

A nine-year-old girl was killed after she was attacked by an angry mixed breed dog at the Summer Hill Subdivision in Pasonanca last Monday afternoon.

Killed was Mariane Gonzales y Pahamutang, a student of the Pasonanca Elementary School and a resident of Lower Cabatangan.

Gonzales died minutes after she was attacked and bitten by a Doberman dog owned by Geolar Tan around 4:50 p.m. She sustained fatal injury in the throat and in different parts of the body.

Police said the girl was on her way home from school passing Summer Hill Subdivision when the dog suddenly appeared and attacked her.

Report said the dog went loose after its collar snapped. It bolted out of the house, ran towards the subdivision road where the girl was passing.

The girl was reported to have been dragged by the angry dog who continued biting her before helpful residents came to rescue her

The girl was rushed to the hospital but expired on the way.

Police took temporary custody of the dog at the Sta. Maria Police Station.
