City, FDCP sponsor ‘cine chabacano’ tilt PDF Print E-mail

For the second year, the Film Development Council of the Philippines and the City Government of Zamboanga will jointly sponsor the Cine Chabacano Short Film Competition, a contest open for independent filmmakers in the city.

The contest forms part of the 2013 Zamboanga International Film Festival held in the city in line with the celebration of Dia de Zamboanga set on February 26.

Themed “Cultura de Zamboanga”, the cine chabacano contest is open to all independent filmmakers at least 16 years old and must not havejoined any major film competition.

The interested filmmaker should be a resident of the City of Zamboanga with at least one year residency in Zamboanga City. (Certificate of Residency from the barangay chairman  must be submitted). All entries shall follow the theme: “Cultura de Zamboanga”. Any Digital Camera may be used.

The video should be at least Three (3) Minutes but not exceeding Ten (10) Minutes; Use of copyrighted music is prohibited, unless allowed by the owner of the material; Nudity, foul language, slur on religious belief, or any other form of offensive content shall likewise be prohibited; Film in the native tongue or dialect must have readable English subtitles and All entries should be submitted in DVD format.

The FDCP shall include the finalists in its portfolio of Filipino films under its Sineng Pambansa Local Film Festival and shall have the right to the exhibition of the finalist in its cinematheques nationwide.

Announcement finalists, as well as awards and recognition of winners will be on February 22. First prize is P15,000, second prize – P10,000 while third prize is P5,000. — Sheila Covarrubias
