A 54-year-old woman was shot and wounded by one of two suspected robbers inside her house at Zone 4, Talabaan at dawn last Tuesday.

Police identified the victim as Melby Mahamod y Altamia, married. She sustained bullet wounds in the left shoulder and abdomen.

A police report disclosed that Melby and her 16-year-old daughter were sleeping in their house around 2:30 a.m. when she woke up and heard noises in their living room.

Melby armed herself with a scythe and verified on what was going on in the living room.

Police said she saw two men believed to be robbers and one of them armed with a handgun shot her twice.

The intruders then jumped out of the window and escaped while Melby was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

During ocular investigation, police found out that the intruders gained entry through a window where they detached two blades.

Police said it was apparently an aborted robbery because the house owner sensed the presence of the intruders  in the house. – Dan Toribio Jr.
