United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) vice mayoral aspirant Mercy Arquiza has called on Zamboangueños who are clamoring for meaningful change in the city not to lose hope despite former congressman Nonong Jalosjos’ disqualification charges filed by political rivals.

“No perde el esperanza (Don’t lose hope). When the sun goes down, the stars come out...tiene pa kita esperanza (we still have hope)...our team (ZTZ) will continue, the UNA team will continue the fight and we’ll continue with our 25-point agenda,” Arquiza said.

“If ever, we will do the plan B... the good congressman will announce what is our plan B.... Nonong Jalosjos will be with us, whether he is a candidate or not he will be with’s all systems go,” Arquiza said.

Arquiza made the remarks during a “pulong-pulong” in Barangay Sinunuc recently amid reports that Jalosjos failed to get a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) from the Supreme Court (SC) on his disqualification case from the mayoralty race in Zamboanga City.

The civic leader also said that “if there is one thing in life that you can never lose beside yourself, it is the hope for a better day, because there will always be one; just as there are bad times; there will come good times as well.”

Arquiza also told the folks “even though things may seem uncertain in the moment, and even though nuisance may be trying to cloud your mind, fill your mind with hopeful thoughts, and remember to keep stepping out on faith as well.”

She ended her dialogue with the sayings, “Think of things in your life that you have to be thankful when you find yourself thinking negatively, even when your plans aren’t going, just keep hoping for better, and just be thankful always,” she concluded. — HG
