Mayor Celso Lobregat will lead city officials and residents today, February 9 in paying tribute to the late Senator Roseller T. Lim, whose exemplary contributions as the first and only Zamboangueño senator are benefitting the present and future generations.

The commemoration of Dia di Roseller T. Lim, now on its 7th year, will kick off with a mass at the St. Joseph Church in Nuñez followed by the wreath laying and commemorative program at the R.T. Lim Monument located at the Normal Road in Baliwasan.

The commemoration will be capped with the awarding of the Five Outstanding Zamboangueño Young leaders (FOZYL), a joint undertaking of the City Government and the JCI Zamboanga chapter. It will be held at 7pm at the Garden Orchid ballroom.

The FOZYL awarding ceremony is the 5th since it was launched in 2008. The award is conferred on young people who showed exemplary leadership qualities and traits that reflect the strength and character of a true Zamboangueno.

The Dia di Roseller T. Lim is pursuant to Ordinance 283 declaring February 9 of every year a special day in honor of the late senator, who was the pride of Zamboanga and Mindanao in the Senate from 1955-1963.

The late senator’s relatives led by nephew Councilor Rudy Lim, author of Ordinance 283, brother Roberto Lim, who is a former vice mayor and daughter Rosamy and others will be present during the commemoration rites.
