1 killed, 3 wounded in Rio Hondo gun attack PDF Print E-mail

A 35-year-old man was killed while three others were wounded in a gun attack at Fishpond, Rio Hondo last Thursday afternoon.

Sali Asari, married, of Sibago Island, Basilan,  sustained bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot.

Wounded were Nasser Ahari, 42, Al Nasraf also of Sibago Island and Hadji Akraya Jamiri, 58, of Rio Hondo.

Initial investigation conducted by the City Police Office’s Investigation Section led by Sr. Insp. Arlan Delumpines disclosed that the trio from Sibago Island visited their relatives in Rio Hondo. While they were heading back to the city proper aboard a Mazda pick-up truck, two men armed with M-16 rifle and .45 caliber pistol waylaid and rained them with bullets at the junction of Fishpond.

Police said the gunmen hurriedly left the scene after shooting their targets. The wounded victims were rushed to different hospitals.

Police gathered that the shooting has something to do with a dispute in Sibago Island.

Delumpines and his men were still conducting follow-up operations with the objective of arrestingthe killers who were known to the victims.

In Barangay Lubigan, a 63-year-old man was wounded while his daughter escaped unhurt in a gun attack last Thursday night.

Domingo Duyao y Andres of Presa Curuan sustained a bullet wound in the left knee.

Initial investigation disclosed that Duyao and his daughter, Rosebelle Mauleon y Duyao, 35, were riding on a private van that was going to Curuan from the city proper when one of two men riding on a motorcycle opened fire on them at a secluded area in Lubigan around 7:25 p.m.

The assailants sped away after the incident while the victim was rushed to the hospital.
