One of the four alleged gunmen who ambushed and seriously wounded Baluno Barangay Chairman Felix Custodio two years ago was arrested by men of the Tetuan
Police Station led by Chief Insp. Elmer Acuña during a police operation in San Juaniño, Mampang last Friday afternoon.

The same team arrested in Lower Calarian yesterday morning another gunman who shot and wounded a policeman in Isabela City a year ago.

City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo identified those arrested as Arcel Kahal alias Atay of Mampang and Radzmier Ibrahim, 30, of Kaumpurna, Isabela City.

Kahal was arrested on the strength of a warrant for frustrated murder with P200,000 bail bond.

The warrant was issued by Judge Gregorio Dela Peña of the Regional Trial Court Branch 12.

Aside from Kahal, three of his relatives including his father were charged in connection with the almost fatalambush of Custodio last January 21, 2011 in Baluno.

Custodio was shot in the head. He underwent medical treatment for almost a year and is still recuperating at present.

In an interview, Kahal denied participation in the ambush and pointed to his relatives who are also in the warrant of arrest as those who allegedly shot Custodio.

Kahal was detained at the Tetuan Police Station while Acuña and his men were still conducting follow-up operations for the arrest of the three others.

In another operation yesterday morning, De Ocampo said Acuña and his men arrested Ibrahim in Lower Calarian. He was wanted for frustrated murder in Isabela City.

Ibrahim was tagged as the gunman who shot and wounded PO2 Aristeves Matela in Tugong St., Isabela City last year.

Ibrahim’s warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Danilo Bucoy of the Regional Trial Court based Isabela City with P200,000 bail bond.

Ibrahim was turned over to the Isabela police yesterday. – Dan Toribio Jr.
