District 1 Rep.  Beng Climaco-Salazar will throw out an early Valentine’s Day treat today, as she reaches out to some 600 barangay health and social workers  through her rice distribution program in cooperation with the Taiwanese government.

“This is our Valentine tribute to our partners in the community, we value the work that they do because through them we too are able to carry out our duties in government”, Cong. Climaco, who is the House Deputy Speaker for Mindanao, said.

The distribution, set at the Culianan Multi-purpose covered court today, forms part of Climaco’s joint undertaking with the Taiwanese government and the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce.

Barangay health workers and social workers are public servants based in the different communities in the city.

Climaco stressed that by reaching out to people is ensuring that what has been given by the Taiwanese government reaches the people of Zamboanga.

She thanked the Taiwanese government and the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce for giving her and her office the confidence to be part of the mission.

A week ago, the lady solon sailed to Layag-layag, a mangrove community in Talon-talon to distribute rice of 10 kilos to each of the over 200 families staying in the area.

Recently, she motored to Labuan to also distribute similar rice packages to some 200 families in the area.

Much earlier, immediately after some barangays were hit by the effects of typhoon Pablo, Climaco also visited the different affected barangays to distribute the rice commodity.

“We continue to give out these international donations to our people of Zamboanga as these are all meant for them. During the early batches of our distribution, we prioritized victims of typhoons and this time we have widened our coverage for those who are in need also of our help,” the lady solon then said. — Marvin Segura
