The leader of a drug ring in Sulu was killed while his wife and two others were arrested during a raid at Godinez, Patikul, Sulu last Friday.

Killed was Sadjari Amiril y Maddas alias Salip Amiril, leader of the Amiril Drug Group. Arrested were his wife, Isnira Mairil and two others identified as Ajan Akdam and Dadang Sainuddin.

A report reaching Daily Zamboanga Times disclosed that agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-9 (PDEA-9), backed up by the PNP’s-Special Action Force  Army’s5th Infantry Battalion FSB (LAU,EOD), Patikul Municipal Police Station and Sulu Provincial Police Office SOG went to the safe house of Amiril to serve a warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 14 for violation of  Section 16, Article III of RA 6425 and Branch 68, RTC, National Capital Region City of Pasig for violation of Section 11 Article II RA 9165.

However upon the arrival of the lawmen, Amiril resisted that triggered a shootout. He was hit in the body and was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Recovered from the possession of Amiril  were one 5.56mm  M16A1 rifle with Serial No. RP052915,   attached one short steel magazine and grenade launcher with Serial No. 104996 with 11 rounds of ammunition and 21 long steel magazines loaded with bullets and a .45 caliber pistol Paraordnance hicap with Serial No. 118543 and two magazines loaded with ammunition,  four M14 steel magazines with 69 rounds of ammunition. Also recovered from the possession of Akdam were a .45 caliber pistol,  .45 Ruger P89 with Serial no. 312-03869 with one magazine and live ammunition and from the possession of Sainuddin was a .38 cal. revolver Viper with Serial No. 10987 with one magazine and live ammunition and a fragmentation grenade.

Other items recovered were a Nokia and a Chery Mobile cell phones, one Torque cell phone, three leather wallets, one ID holder and two magazines bandoleer.

Cases for violation of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and Illegal possession of explosives are being prepared against the suspects who were temporarily detained at the Jolo Municipal Police Station. — Dan Toribio Jr.
