City Police Director Sr. Supt. Edwin De Ocampo yesterday expressed appreciation and gladness on the resolution passed by the City Council commending the City Police Office on the presence of police cars with blinking and rotating lights on patrol or parked or in different areas of the city.

De Ocampo said that with the commendation of the City Council, he and his men are inspired and motivated to work harder and to exert more efforts to bring more improvements to the city’s peace and order condition.

The commendation came through Resolution No. 72 sponsored by Councilor Vincent Paul Elago during a regular session last January commending the Zamboanga City Police Office, thru its officer-in-charge for making the police presence felt especially during night time.

The resolution noted the presence of police cars with blinking and rotating lights on patrol or parked in different streets.

It said that the method is simple but would mean a lot to the people of this city because they know that they are safe with the presence of policemen in their area, and in emergency cases they could immediately signal for help.    Moreover, this would also serve as deterrence against people with evil plots in the community.

The same resolution earnestly requests the city police office to create more police sector commands.

The blinkers on police cars and stations were put up on order of Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Juanito Vaño.    De Ocampo said policemen under his supervision are on call all the time in case of eventualities. – Dan Toribio Jr.
