OCENR employee dies in Lumbangan truck accident PDF Print E-mail

An employee of the Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR) died in a road accident in Lumbangan yesterday morning.

The fatality was identified as Rene Mariano y Enriquez, 50, married, of Lumbangan.

Lumayang Barangay Chairman Ferderick Atilano, who rushed to the accident site, disclosed that Mariano hitched ride a truck owned by a poultry farm and driven by Roel
Amador going to  the city proper when the accident took place.

The truck reportedly experienced engine trouble upon reaching a descending part of the Lumbangan road.

Amador lost control of the steering wheel while the truck was running on high speed. Mariano jumped from the truck, but when he fell on the road he was smashed by the rear tire of the vehicle.

Atilano said the truck also rammed the house of Lumbangan barangay councilman Lito Bejerano.

Occupants of the house escaped unhurt because they were able to leave run away when they saw the truck coming to their direction.
