Young and full of vision, Hegem Furigay, currently a councilor and seeking to become the next mayor of Lamitan City, has a lofty dream to make Lamitan the most progressive city in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

“I have a great vision for Lamitan City and that foresight will be realized if I am given the chance to be the next mayor,” Hegem said during a press conference with Zamboanga City newsmen yesterday.at the Lantaka Hotel.

Hegem revealed he has always dreamed and fantasized that one day Lamitan will emerge as the most progressivein the region with its people living in harmony and contentment.

The youthful leader who is running for the mayoralty seat under the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP), presented his 10-point agenda announcing his various programs, schedules and list of items that he has outlined that will serve as guide and direction in the realization of his vision.

“I know I will be running against political giants but I will try my best to be the next chief executive, with the help of the youths and other sectors who believe in my advocacies to bring further developments, improvements and progress to our city,” the alderman emphasized.

Hegem said before joining politics he has already made significant contribution to Basilan.

“As a youth I was able to establish the Furigay Colleges Inc. and in coordination with the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and over the five-year period the school was able to help graduate more than 4,000 students in the province. Many are now gainfully employed in local and even in foreign institutions,” Furigay said.

Finally, Furigay thanked his very supportive parents Henry and Jenny who are always behind him in his quest to bring advancement and growth to Lamitan that he loves so much. — KS
