A barangay chairman and five others were seriously injured after the hanging bridge they were repairing collapsed in Barangay Palili, Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur last Friday.

Injured were Chairman Rodolfo Camadote, Benito Salomon, 52, Romy Suncalang, 35, Balbora Antonio, 51, Bebito Fuentes, 30, and Paquito Caparoso, 72.

A police report disclosed that Camadote was spearheading the rehabilitation of the bridge intended for their forthcoming barangay fiesta when the freak accident happened.

Camadote and the five workers went down with the bridge causing severe injuries on the different parts of their bodies. They were immediately rushed to the Midsalip Hospital for treatment.

The chairman along with Solomon and Suncalang were later transferred to the Zamboanga del Sur Hospital due to serious condition. —  Noning R. Antonio
