A 70-year-old man was arrested after he duped a patient’s watcher of P700 at the Zamboanga City Medical Center yesterday.

Nabbed was Omar Jamaruddin of Canelar Barter, this city.

Rosita Tura, a resident of Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay, told the police that she was a patient watcher at the said hospital when she was told by the physician that the patient needs blood because of leukemia.

By coincidence, Jamaruddin approached Tura and offered help. The old man asked P700 from Tura with a promise that he will bring some persons who are known to him to give blood to Tura’s patient.

However, when Tura gave the said amount to Jamaruddin last Tuesday he left the hospital and never returned.

Yesterday, Tura spotted Jamaruddin at the compound of the hospital apparently scouting for a new victim.

Immediately Tura sought the assistance of some concerned people in the hospital that led to the arrest of Jamaruddin.

Jamaruddin said that he spent the money and did look for any blood donor. – Dan Toribio Jr.
