Celso enjoins support to March 1 unity walk PDF Print E-mail

Mayor Celso Lobregat has called upon all people in the city to join and support the unity walk to be spearheaded by the Bureau of Fire Protection to kick off the observance of the 46th National Fire Prevention Month on March 1.

Lobregat issued the call through Executive Order (EO) 492-2013 issued February 11.

The order enjoins all schools, government entities, private institutions, non-government organizations (NGO’s), church-based organizations, civil society groups, urban poor communities and all constituents to participate in the “A    Walk for a Fire-Free and Fire-Safe Nation,” to be held on March 1st.

Assembly is set at the Zamboanga City Fire District, Mayor Climaco Avenue at 05:00 A.M. and the walk will commence at 05:30 A.M. to culminate at the Paseo del Mar grounds.

The National Fire Prevention Month is observed annually in pursuance to Presidential Proclamation No. 115-A promulgated by President Ferdinand Marcos. It aims to raise the level of public awareness of the ways to prevent destructive fires and save lives and properties.

This year’s observance is bannered by the theme “Sunog at Sakuna ay Paghandaan, Kalikasan ay Pangalagaan nang Matamasa ang Pag-unlad ng Bayan.”
