‘Habal-habal’ driver shot, hurt; motorbike robbed PDF Print E-mail

A habal-habal driver was shot and wounded by a gunman who later took his motorcycle in San Jose Gusu yesterday morning.

Roderick Bustamante, 36, of Sinunuc, sustained bullet wounds in the right arm and right foot. The bullet that hit the arm exited on his chest.

A police report disclosed that Bustamante was waiting for a passenger along the road near a pharmacy when a gunman appeared and shot him twice.

When Bustamante fell on the ground, the gunman took his Honda XRM motorcycle then sped away.

Recovered at the crime scene were two spent shells of .45 caliber pistol.

Bustamante was rushed to a private hospital and was later declared out of danger.

Investigators led by Sr. Insp. Arlan Delumpines conducted a hot pursuit operation.

Delumpines disclosed that they have gathered information on the identity of the assailant but he refused name him.
