City unveils P2.7M covered court at PNP Training Center PDF Print E-mail

The Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC)- Regional Police Training Center based in Pasonanca is the latest beneficiary of the City Government’s massive infrastructure program in support of the PNP mission to deliver high quality police services.

This, as Mayor Celso Lobregat on Wednesday afternoon led City Government officials in turning over to the PPSC headed by its President, Atty. Ruben Platon, the P2.7M covered court for the Center’s numerous activities.

Lobregat said the project forms part of  the City’s commitment to public safety. He was assisted by District 1 Representative Beng Climaco, Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde and Councilors Myra Paz Abubakar, Percival Ramos, Luis Biel III and Rogelio Valesco Jr.

Also present during the turnover ceremony were PPSC Vice President for administration Dr. Marcelino Lipana, PPSC Vice President for Academics PCSupt. Amador Navarosa, Regional Training Director PCSupt. Redentor Retusto, PRO-9 Regional Director PCSupt. Juanito Vaño, PRO-9 Deputy Regional Director PCSupt. Ramon Ochotorena, PCSupt. Dominador Aquino Jr. and City Police OIC Director Col. Edwin de Ocampo.

The turnover of the covered court came a few minutes before the inauguration of a training center building funded by the United States Assistance for International Development (USAID) and graced by US Ambassador Harry Thomas and Richard Miller of the US Embassy. 

For the period 2007-2012, the City Government has recorded a total of 44 covered courts amounting to P94.03 million—either completed, undergoing construction or with the BAC . These are located in barangay halls, schools and other government properties. Covered courts boost up activities in the barangays and can also be used as evacuation centers during calamities. — Sheila Covarrubias
