Southern City Colleges proved to be too strong for upstart Ferndale International School as the defending champion Bullpups booked a return to the national finals with a masterful 100-71 win last Saturday (Feb. 16, 2013)  in the regional eliminations finals of the 2013 Sea Oil NBTC cage tournament at the Mayor Vitaliano Agan Memorial Coliseum.

Playing behind eventual MVP awardee Neil Jay Agustin, the Bullpups of coach Edny Morones pulled away outclassing the Ferndale five in all four quarters  24-17, 28-18, 25-20, and 23-16 to settle the outcome beyond any doubt in lifting the winners’ trophy in the title bout.

In the battle for 3rd spot, Claret School of Zamboanga vented its ire on Zamboanga City High School –Main beating the lamps 83-74. Claret was a pre-tourney favorite to tangle with Southern City Colleges but fell by the wayside in another frustrating campaign this year.

This year the Sea Oil NBTC tourney here was participated by in by ten schools sending in their junior squads to the prestigious basketball tourney.

These were Pilar College, Saint Joseph School, Zamboanga Chong Hua School, Zion Evangelical School, Bethany Child Development Center, Claret High School, Zamboanga City High School-Main, Southern City Colleges, Ferndale International School and Western Mindanao State University.

The tourney was  organized here through FederacionBasketbolista de Zamboanga or FBZ and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas or SBP through President and Area Head-Trustee Pedro Alfaro Jr. Competition Chair is Joel Quintanes while tournament manager is Ferdinand Bernabe.
