Fire victims get cash assistance from City PDF Print E-mail

Eleven families displaced due to separate fire incidents in 4 barangays over the last two months were extended financial assistance by the City Government as part of its commitment to social services.

Mayor Celso Lobregat, assisted by OIC City Social Welfare and Development Officer Evelyn Las Marias and staff and representatives from the City Treasurer’s Office individually handed over the cash assistance to the beneficiaries during simple rites at City Hall yesterday morning.

Of the 11 families, 3 were victims of the December 24, 2012 fire incident in Calarian; 5 were displaced due to the anuary 25, 2013 fire incident at Zone IV while 2 were victims of the January 27, 2013 fire incident in Sta. Maria.

Also in the list was a family displaced due to uprooted tree caused by strong winds and thunderstorm in San Rqoue last December 19, 2012.

House owners whose dwellings were totally damaged received P5,000 each while house owners whose dwellings were partially damaged received P3,000 each.

A total of P43,000 has been  shelled out for the purpose.

The financial assistance is intended to help alleviate the victims’ plight. — Sheila Covarrubias
