The errand man of a prominent family was shot and wounded by a gunman in Sta. Maria, this city at noon yesterday.

The victim was identified as Mohammad Auger Abdukarim, 24, who works at the residence of SPO2 Arson Isnani, finance officer of the Police Regional Office-Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao.
Abdukarim sustained a gunshot wound in the right arm and was taken to the Western Mindanao Medical Center for treatment.

Sta. Maria Police Station commander Chief Insp. Felix Martinez disclosed that Isnani was entertaining a visitor identified as Sr. Insp. (ret.) Carlito Bolando Lantana when the shooting took place.
Martinez said that while Lantana was having a conversation with Isnani inside the house, an unidentified man arrived at the back gate and rang the door bell.

Abdukarim opened the back gate and the man asked him if it was Isnani’s residence. When he answered yes, the man shot him at close range.

Although wounded, Abdukarim managed to close the gate and ran into the house and sought his employer’s assistance.

The gunman disappeared while Lantana was taken to the Sta. Maria Police Station for some questioning to determine if he had anything to say on what had happened. — Dan Toribio Jr.
