A suspected shabu pusher was shot to death after he tried to hurl a grenade at the police arresting team during a buy-bust operation in Bagong Dalan, Talon-Talon last Saturday afternoon.

Killed was Cigie Gardoze y Fernandez, married, of Purok 3, Talon-Talon.

A police report disclosed that operatives of the City Anti-illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force led by Sr. Insp. Elmer Solon went to Bagong Dalan around 4:45 p.m. to conduct a buy-bust operation against Gardoze.

However, after the marked money and shabu changed hands, Gardoze sensed that it was a police operation, he ran towards his house, grabbed a hand grenade and later jumped out. While thereat, Gardoze attempted to pull the safety pin of the grenade prompting one of the policemen to shoot him. Gardoze sustained bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot.Recovered from his possession were two sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia and P300 marked money.

Members of the City Police Office’s Bomb Squad retrieved the MKII fragmentation grenade at the scene
