Mayor Celso Lobregat is expected to narrate the many outstanding accomplishments of the city government under his administration as he delivers his 7th State of the City Address today at the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

Top on Mayor Lobregat’s SOCA this morning is the massive infrastructure program of the city government, ranging from the constructions of school buildings to barangay halls, health centers, multi-purpose centers and farm-to-market roads.

In the education sector alone, the local government’s infrastructure expenditure has reached more than P600 million, which includes the construction of other education-related facilities and teachers allowances now pegged at P700 monthly.

The mayor’s public address will also delve into peace and order efforts; including the infrastructure and financial assistance that city has extended to the local police, the firemen and jail personnel. Part of this program is the purchase of firearms, ammunition and vehicles for the local law enforcers.

Under the peace and order efforts, the mayor will be citing certain problems like the kidnapping and shooting incidents, and more importantly how the Crisis Management Committee under his leadership was able to address the problems.

Lobregat’s narrative of accomplishments will also cover the financial stability of the city government, an accounting of taxes collected against the expenses for personnel services, social services and infrastructure program and other components.

Aside from what had been done in the year that was, Lobregat is also expected to lay out his priorities for his remaining two and a half years in office.

On the lighter note and probably a source of inspiration, Mayor Lobregat will take pride in numerous awards the city received from different award-giving bodies in recognition of the city’s outstanding performance through the mayor’s good governance and sound fiscal management.

Also to give their respective report of accomplishments as the City Council resumes its maiden session today are the two congresspersons—Rep. Maria Isabelle “Beng” Climaco-    Salazar of District 1 and Rep. Erbie A. Fabian of District 2 together with Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde, who is barely six months in office. — Vic Larato
