Organizers are finalizing the groundworks for the staging of the Coca Cola Young stars Cage Tournament set to unreel in Zamboanga City by next month.

Tapped to organize and stage the tournament in the city is FBZ President and BSP Arear Head Pedro Alfaro Jr.

Alfaro added this will be the first time that the Coca Cola PBA Young stars basketball tourney will be staged here as plans fell through last year for it to be brought to the city.

The tournament will be a unique play format centering on a mixed aged composition for participating team as squads are mandated to field players with a combination of ages from 9 years old to 12.

Alfaro added they are looking at fielding 10 teams for the tourney held in conjunction with the commissioner’s office of Ramil Cruz.

Alfaro also added this is one tournament with direction participation of the country’s pro basketball league the PBA.

It is a tournament for young basketeers who will have an avenue for them to play in during the summer months, the SBP Area head added.

It will also ensure that we will have a smooth turnover of prospects from various age brackets as these tournaments continue to focus on discovering new talents at various levels, Alfaro added.

Organizers will announce later the teams participating in the tourney which culminates in the national finals by April 2013.
