The Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative Inc. (Zamcelco) yesterday announced that power will be interrupted on Sunday, January 23, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m..

Affected are the consumers served by the Recodo and Ayala substations in the west coast in view of the energization of the Pitogo 100 MVA power substation by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

According to Zamcelco General Manager Reinerio R. Ramos, the NGCP has scheduled a series of tasks to be undertaken in preparation for the commercial operation of the 100MVA power substation transformer.

“Today, January 19, the NGCP is set to tentatively energize the Pitogo substation transformer without load yet and January 20-22, 2011 will be the refinement period, however the power interruption will be on January 23, 2011,” Ramos said.
“The Cabatangan and San Jose Gusu substations will experience power outage for about one hour only,” Ramos further said.

It was also learned that the Zamcelco Sangali, Putik and Camanchile substations which draw power from the NGCP’s Linel, will be spared from the power outage.
The Cabatangan, San Jose Gusu, Recodo and Ayala power substations are supplied by NGCP Line2.

“Once on full commercial operation, the 138KV line feeding the NGCP Pitogo 100MVA substation will be delivering the desired voltage to the Zamcelco’s San Jose Gusu, Cabatangan, Recodo and Ayala substations,” Ramos added.

For his part, NEA Project Supervisor Engr. Jesus Y. Castro expressed confidence that with the NGCP 138KV transmission line much nearer to the Zamcelco’s 69KV sub-transmission lines, the appropriate voltage delivery as well as power reliability and stability will be addressed.
