Guard shoots at 4 suspected thieves: 1 dead, 1 wounded PDF Print E-mail

A 32-year-old man was killed, while his companion was wounded after they were shot by a company security guard on suspicion that they were carting away properties belonging to the firm in Cawit, this city yesterday afternoon.

Killed was Jerry Jugay y Aloa, 32, of Gutalac, Zamboanga del Norte. Wounded was Wilson Allones y Alam, 28, married, of Maasin.

A police report disclosed that  Jarrin Mohammad y Baguinda, 20, of Purok 8, Recodo and security guard of Universal Corporation was on foot patrol in his duty area around 1 p.m., when he saw four persons carrying away sacks of scrap metal at the company compound. Mohammad fired a warning shot using his carbine rifle to stop them, but they ignored, prompting him to open fire directly on the fleeing persons.

The bullets hit Jugay and Allones.

Jugay sustained a gunshot wound in the back.

Mohammad was arrested and detained at the Ayala police station pending further investigation of the case. — Dan Toribio Jr.
