The prevailing power crisis in Zamboanga City is totally unacceptable and it will be one of the top priorities of District 2  Rep. and mayoralty aspirant Erbie A. Fabian and his ‘Fuerza Zamboanga’ coalition party if and when they get the mandate of the people here.

The power situation has deteriorated over the years in Zamboanga City and has wrought untold sufferings to our people, stunted the growth of business and halted development, and has been going on for some time now with no clear-cut solutions in the horizon and something has to be done soonest, Fabian intoned.

Fuerza Zamboanga has drawn up a comprehensive short term plan to address the problem immediately until such time the situation stabilizes.

“I understand if things progress as planned we will be getting new sources of power by 2016 yet so between now and then we are bound to find solutions to the power crisis that hit us year in and year out to eliminate brownouts in the city, the 2nd district solon said.

“We are duty bound to find solutions to correct this aberration as the provision of power is a basic need of our people and we should start weaning ourselves from being overly dependent on the Mindanao grid as expert have already predicted its capacity to produce is on a downward spiral in the years ahead so by and large we are on our own in this situation, Fabian added. “Besides, it is enshrined in our covenant with the people in our 10-point agenda as we commit to deliver if and when we get the people’s mandate.”

Fabian has been doing the rounds and getting people’s pulse on such critical issues and has talked to business groups, industrial leaders, people from the barangay, the academe, the police and the military drawing feedbacks on what is needed to be done soonest.

“I assure you I and my party mates over at Fuerza are in touch with the true pulse of the city and we are getting a fair idea of what needs to be attended immediately here in the city, “ Fabian said.

The 2nd district solon is on his third and final term in Congress and formally bows out of the halls of Congress this June.

He has decided after close consultations to run for Mayor in the May 13 polls with running mate and former Councilor Atty. Luis Climaco, Councilor Lilia Nuno as Congress representative for the 2nd district and 10 council aspirants from a cross section of the city.

They are incumbent councilor Atty. Mel Sadain, former NCIP Commissioner Mike Apostol, newly retired Poice Deputy Chief of Zamboanga Supt. HadoEdding and former Aviation Security Deputy Chief here in the region Supt. Joe Bernardo for District I and in district 2 Fuerza council bets are retired govt. broadcaster Roseller Enriquez, former Ateneo Professor Dr.LitoDepositario, Feltranz President Ed Mingala, surgeon Dr. Antonio ‘Bonjing’ Feliciano, former City Councilor Gerry Acuna and Cabaluay Barangay Chief Mako Apolinario.

Fuerza Zamboanga is a loose coalition of independent minded aspirants bound by a common goal in achieving peace, progress and prosperity through its 10-point agenda as its platform of government.
