Lamitan City Councilor Hegem Furigay has been awarded as Regional Winner and national finalist of The Outstanding Councilors of the Philippines (TOCP) 2012  by the Junior Chamber International Philippines, Philippines Councilors League and the office of Senator Edgardo Angara.

The young Furigay easily capped the prestigious award for the city category because of his outstanding leadership, legislative excellence and exceptional contribution to the cause of his constituents, the community and the nation as a councilor.

As number one alderman, he has served as an exemplar of good governance, devotion to his sworn duty and as a shining example of true public service.

“I owe this to my predecessor and grandfather, former Lamitan mayor Fred Furigay for his straightforwardness and sincere dedication to duty to the people he had served for many years. That is why I dedicate this plague of recognition to my Lolo who taught me to be honest and to serve with candor to my constituents,” the youthful councilor emphasized.

Through the years, TOCP has established itself as the Philippines’ foremost award search for municipal and city legislators, who excel in their chosen vocation and whose selfless effort has given significant contribution to their respective constituencies, to the community, and to the country at large.

Furigay was awarded with the Plague of Recognition during the Philippines Councilors League convention held Wednesday morning at the SMX Convention Center.

The plague was signed by no less than Allan Zulueta the PCL National Chair, Randolf Ivan Ruste, 2012 national president of the JCI Philippines and Alma Moreno the national president of the PCL. — KS
