Soldiers of the 15th Infantry Batallion, 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division, Philippine Army, led by Lt. Sagario rescued a abducted mother and her four children in Barangay Mentering,  Lanao del Norte on Thursday afternoon.

A hasty pursuit operation and aided by the civilian populace, the Army troopers were able to catch up with the kidnappers around 5:00 p.m. that triggered a firefight between the two groups.

Sensing that they were outnumbered and about to be cornered, the kidnappers scampered in different directions leaving behind their captives. There were no reported casualties on both sides.

The soldiers immediately handed over the family to Maigo Municipal Police Station for documentation and further investigation.

According to the victim’s relatives, gunmen broke into the house of the victims in Barangay Inoma Thursday morning. They dragged the mother and four children by foot all the way up to Barangay Mentering. Land dispute was believed to be the motive behind the abduction.
