At 7:47 a.m. on  March 9, 2013, school director Alfredo R. Vargas, Jr. received a text message from his engineer. The content went this way: “Gud am. Congratulations.. Top 1-ent.exam-sci.hi.” His engineer was bringing his son to school when he saw the posted result of the Regional Science High School GRADE 7 ENTRANCE EXAMINATION for school year 2013-14.

Mr. Vargas tried calling his engineer but there was no answer. I was instructed to contact the office of the Regional Science High School but there was no answer since it was a Saturday. We could not contain the news among ourselves, so we rushed to San Roque.

That time there were three groups who were looking at the  result, one group recognized us and said, “Congratulations!”. A guy beside us excitedly told us that he is from Sta. Maria Elementary School, the school that placed second. Our school director smiled at him and said, “We are from Yogi School.” He stared at us with amazement. He had reasons to, because one of our grade six pupils who took the exam scored 99, making him the top 1. As a result, this made Yogi School the top 1 among all the schools in Zamboanga City whose pupils took the first batch entrance test on February 23, 2013.

All of a sudden the crowd looking at the result started to swell. Many started taking pictures. We also took pictures of the posted result. After satisfying ourselves and convinced that it was our day, we headed back to our school. Our office-in-charge took the camera and started to upload the pictures in the internet.

Now everybody can see it: ISAIAH M. APOLINARIO - YOGI LEARNING CENTER FOUNDATION, INC. RANK 1, SCORE 99.

The school is doubly happy because, besides having a topnotcher, all the other pupils who took the entrance test, passed.— Marry Ann P. Borja, Yogi Grade Six adviser
