Hundreds of Chinese businessmen last Sunday were given assurances by District 2 Rep. Erbie A. Fabian of all-out support even as he emphasized the need to make Zamboanga City investor-friendly as the city aspires to become the next major commercial and industrial hub of the region.

Cong. Fabian invited to give a short message during the inaugural convention of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Southwestern Mindanao Chapter and induction of officers last Sunday at a local hotel, stressed his agenda for business development in the city, if he were to become mayor of Zamboanga.

No new taxes will be imposed, restoration of peace and order and an immediate solution to the crippling power crisis are tops in the Fabian priority list as embodied in his and the party’s 10-point agenda.

“We must set a business climate conducive to and business friendly if we want to entice investment capital to come flowing into Zamboanga. The Chinese community just like anywhere in the country and the world are important partners in trade and commerce and by their presence here is an indication they want to become active partners in progress and development through business and trade,” Fabian said.

Fabian was in the company of other top city officials to include Mayor Celso Lobregat and District 1 Rep. Beng Climaco-Salazar in attendance of the convention which was also graced by People’s Republic of China Consul General  to the country Zhang Wei Guo and PCCI National Board Chair and President Johnny Go.

Rep. Fabian also extended his congratulations to the incoming officer of the local chapter headed by Board chair Benny Yu and President Johnny Ang.

He expressed high hopes the Philippine Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chapter here can become active partners in progress and development of the city now and in the years ahead.
