Two loggers were shot and killed by gunmen at Sitio Campo Uno, Barangay Dongos, Dinas, Zambonaga del Sur last Saturday morning.

Police Regional Office Information Officer Chief INsp. Ariel Huesca identified the fatalities as Rodulfo Clarin and Cristopher Tagayan, married and residents of Barangay Sungoy, San Pablo, Zamboanga del Sur. Both sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the body and died on the spot.

Huesca disclosed that Clarin, operator of the chainsaw and Tagayan, helper and owner of the machine, were sawing coco lumber at Sitio Campo Uno, Barangay Dongos around 7 a.m. when four gunmen suddenly appear and sprayed them with bullets.

It was learned that three of the gunmen were wearing camouflage clothes and mask on their faces while the other one was clad in civilian attire. All were  armed with M16 rifles.

The gunmen left the place bringing the chainsaw of the victims before responding policemen arrived at the crime scene.

Investigators recovered 12 spent shells of 5.56 mm caliber at the crime scene. – Dan Toribio Jr.
