ZCSPC thanks city for P51M projects PDF Print E-mail

Officials from the Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College (ZCSPC) yesterday expressed extreme gratitude to the City Government under the administration of Mayor Celso Lobregat for the massive infrastructure projects implemented, ongoing construction and under bidding process from 2007 to present which amount to P51 million.

ZCSPC President Dr. Nora Ponce in her message during the turnover of P4.2 million garments building from the City government to the ZCSPC said the City’s education initiatives are saving and improving lives of people in Zamboanga.

The turnover ceremony was also graced by Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde, Councilors Rudy Lim, Myra Paz Abubakar, Percival Ramos, Eddie Saavedra, Mike Alavar and VP Elago, CHED-9 Director Emylou Yanga, FEBARKAZA president Art Onrubia, former CSWDO chief Kit Barredo, BG Guingona, former councilors Roel Natividad and Charlie Mariano, Zone III chairman Tito Espiritusanto, City Police OIC Directoro Col. Edwin de Ocampo, Eddie Cheong, Corazon Herico, Fr. Jude Dumcombe, ZCSPC Board of Trustees, vice presidents, deans, faculty and students. 

“Todo kita testigo del suporta y prayoridad que el administracion di Mayor Lobregat ta dale na educacion especialmente na ZCSPC por medio de maga proyecto [All of us are witnesses to the support and priority that the administration of Mayor Lobregat gives to education particularly the ZCSPC through infrastructure projects],” Ponce said.

She emphasized that the new 2-storey building turned over yesterday will be benefited by the 5,600 students of the ZCSPC. “The education initiatives of the City will benefit the students and residents of the City. This building (garments building) is only one of the many projects that the City gave to the Polytechnic College”.

Aside from the garments building, the City also constructed a 2-storey 8 classroom building for the ZCSPC in 2009 and is currently constructing the P24M multi-purpose gymnasium and the 2-storey 6 classroom building for the College of Engineering and Technology worth P6.1 million also for the same institution.

“I thank Mayor Celso Lobregat and also the City Council which approves all projects for the ZCSPC”, Ponce said adding “words are not enough to thank the 9-year administration of Mayor Lobregat”.

Mayor Lobregat in his message said the city’s investment in education has reached over P1.3 billion with the ultimate goal of ensuring better future for the young generation.

He affirmed that the city’s education initiatives do not only benefit public elementary and secondary schools but also institutions of higher institution such as the ZCSPC including the Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) and the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU).

Lobregat likewise thanked the ZCSPC for being very supportive of the City’s education initiatives including other projects and programs for the benefit of the residents. — Sheila Covarrubias
