PRO-9 supports Women’s Month celebration in R9 PDF Print E-mail

The Police Regional Office-9 has pledged full support to women of all races in the region as the country is celebrating the National Women’s Month, with this year’s theme “Kababaihan, Gabay sa Pagtahak sa Tuwid na Daan”.

The fete is in consonant with Presidential Proclamation Nos. 224 and 227 series of 1988 and Republic Act 6949 series of 1990.

Police Regional Director Chief Supt Juanito Vaño Jr., disclosed that the festivity aims to address the gender issues and develop strategies and programs to accelerate women’s participation in the government and further strengthening the their role in nation building.

Vaño said that various women organizations, including those of militant or cause oriented groups are expected to converge and hold simultaneous mass rallies and activities in celebrating the event.

The police regional director reminded his men to be extra vigilant on account that some disgruntled groups might take advantage of the situation by way of exploiting the event to embarrass the present government and will instigate violence.

He said the entire police force in the region will assure the participants their security and safety of the simultaneous activities of the month-long celebration.  Policemen will be deployed to provide security coverage in areas where gatherings and rallies are held.

Vaño appealed to the public to be vigilant also against those who will take advantage of the condition by sowing terror or other forms of criminal activities as the country rejoices the meaningful occasion.

Vaño has directedall provincial and city directors to be responsible for the security coverage of all places of convergence to ensure the achievement of the month-long celebration of the National Women’s Month. – Dan Toribio Jr.
