In keeping with the city’s commitment to make health services accessible in all 98 barangays, Mayor Celso Lobregat yesterday led the unveiling of two newly-constructed health centers in the west coast totaling P2.659 million.

“I would like to thank all of you for the overwhelming confidence that you have given me because all these would have not been possible without your support,” Lobregat said, as he turned over one after the other the health centers in Anuling in Pamucutan and Sinubong together with Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde, Councilors Rudy Lim, Myra Paz Abubakar, Noning Biel and Rogelio Valesco Jr. and City Health Officer Dr. Rodel Agbulos.

The mayor likewise acknowledged the members of the City Council and the City’s congressional representatives who have supported the various projects of the incumbent administration.

The local executive turned over the newly-constructed wellness center worth P498T to residents of Sitio Anuling in Barangay Pamucutan who were grateful for the facility which they said would greatly benefit them.

“Hinde ya gat kame abaja y paga P20 pamasahe para man-immunize kunel baby pati man pre-natal,” one Anuling resident said in an interview.
Pamucutan chairperson Romeo Serna presented the mayor with a plaque of appreciation in recognition of the latter’s leadership and contributions to the barangay. The wellness center is the second of such facility to be turned over to Pamucutan.

City Health Officer Rodelin Agbulos in an interview explained that some barangays, like Pamucutan, get to have more than one health center due to population size.
Another health center was also turned over in Barangay Sinubong to deliver basic health and medical services to its residents. The P2.2M facility is equipped with its own consultation, immunization, pre-natal, labor and delivery rooms which can provide birthing services to pregnant mothers in the barangay.

For his part, Sinubong chairperson Rolando Soler thanked Lobregat for the many projects the present administration has given to the barangay.

“Dol todo ya lang del cosa necesita el barangay, ya dale ya si Mayor Celso,” Soler said during the turnover ceremony.

Dr. Agbulos also called on the city’s residents to avail of health services in their barangays and to participate in all of the local government’s health initiatives such as the arrest of dengue cases.

Also present during the turn over ceremonies in both barangays were Bong Atilano, Tito Espiritusanto, Nadz Sampang, Elong Natividad and former Mayor Efren Arañez, City Engineer Luis Despalo and staff and CHO personnel and many others. — Claudine Uniana
