Defending champion Main Coat rode its hot bats to score a lopsided 18-2 over Team Boalan last Sunday in the ongoing 2nd K of C slowpitch Softball Tournament at the ICES grounds in Tetuan in a day punctuated by routs.

The tournament in its 2nd year of play is sponsored by 2nd District Rep. Erbie A. Fabian in coordination with the Tetuan Pastoral Council.

It is one of this year’s highlight activities leading to the 150th anniversary of the oldest parish in Zamboanga City, the Tetuan Parish whose patron saint is St. Ignatius of Loyola.

In other matches completed, Zamcelco likewise scored an easy 12-1 over Team Mercenaries, K of C Team A notched a win with a 5-2 defeat of Team Mariano, TODA also won over ZCWD 13-9, Team Basilio shutout NUK Mariano 10-0, Phil Air Force scattered 16 hits in a victory over San Roque who managed only 7 runs, Ateneo snuffed out Cocalan Warriors 7-0, while TODA handed Boalan a double whammy by thumping the latter 21-7.

Under the stewardship of Grand Knight John Ruiz and former head knight and barangay kagawadWalmart Atilano, the K of C slowpitch softball tourney has sparked a revival of sorts as shown by the big number of teams partaking in the tourney.

Atilano said the tournament held every Sundays only will terminate this May a good two months ahead of the barangay fiesta where other major activities have been lined up for the festivities planned.
