The Highway Patrol Group-9 is on red alert as communist rebels are set to celebrate the 44th founding anniversary of CPP-NPA on March 29, 2013.

Supt. Severino B. Agustin, HPG-9 chief,  has directed all provincial teams to be on alert and extra vigilant in their areas of jurisdiction as the different highways in the region “are the main thoroughfares of the people.”

“We  are in coordination with other law enforcers to conduct security measures and ensure that motorists who will pass our areas of  jurisdiction are checked and monitored,” Agustin said.

Meanwhile, HPG-9 has also implemented various activities and security measures for the different communities in the region to be aware and do their share in the maintenance of peace and order.

“We have implemented Oplan Semana Santa, Summer Vacation and activated Motorist Assistance Centers  that has been established under Oplan Bantay-Lakbay in the different wharves, bus terminals and airports in the region . The different activities are to provide assistance  to  people in the observance of the Lenten Season, in going home to their different provinces and provide assistance to local, national and foreign tourists”, Agustin said.

The theme of this year’s road security measures is “Highway Patrol Group, Kaagapay sa Ligtas na Lansangan Tungo sa Serbisyong Makatotohanan”.
On the other hand, HPG-9 also joins the National Women’s Month celebration.

Agustin has sponsored  a Gender Awareness and Development seminar that was attended by HPG-9 operatives with Ms. Agapita Bendoy  officer of the Department of Social Welfare and Development 9 as guest of honor and speaker. Said seminar was held at Camp Batalla.

Agustin directed his men to be always courteous and respectful to women when conducting operations in the different highways in the region. — Allen Abastillas
