Lobregat turns over 5 vehicles to police, TFZ PDF Print E-mail

The City Police Office and Task Force Zamboanga yesterday 5 new motor vehicles from the City Government intended to help improve mobility and ultimately enhance capability.

Costing a total of P2.6 million, the 5 vehicles consisted of 3 multicab units (worth P867T) and 2 units L-300 (worth P1.73M). Of the total 5 facilities, one multicab was turned over to the military’s Task force Zamboanga while 2 multicab and 2 L300 units were turned over to the police through Regional Police Director PCSupt. Juanito Vaño and City Police OIC Director Col. Edwin de Ocampo.

Mayor Celso Lobregat said the new set of vehicles forms part of the City’s massive assistance and support not only to the police, but also the Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Task Force Zamboanga, Philippine Air Force and other law enforcement agencies.

“Several other transportation facilities are forthcoming”, the mayor said as he turned over the vehicles to Gen. Vaño and Col. De Ocampo Tuesday in front of City Hall together with Vice Mayor Cesar Iturralde, Councilors Nonong Guingona, Eddie Saavedra, Noning Biel and Mike Alavar along with Chief Executive Assistant Mario Roca, former CSWDO Francisco Barredo, FEBARKAZA president Art Onrubia and former councilor Roel Natividad.

Gen. Vaño thanked the City Government and the entire people of Zamboanga for the donations as he assured that the police will do their best to ensure continuous service to protect the people. “We will continue to serve with excellence and competence”.

The vehicles, he said, will be used in daily police operations and will certainly enhance capability to maintain peace and order in Zamboanga City.

For his part, Col. de Ocampo also thanked Mayor Lobregat and the members of the City Council for approving the appropriations for the implementation of projects intended for public safety.

As of February 26, 2013, the City Government has already donated 109 motor vehicles to the local police since 2007. Of the 109 vehicles turned over to the police, 22 units are L-300 vans, 11 units 4x4 jeep, 21 units multicab vehicles and 55 units motorcycles, of which 30 were turned over during the Dia de Zamboanga celebration, Feb. 26.

The local police fleet of vehicles consists of 133 units with 109 coming from the city government.— Sheila Covarrubias
