The Chinese-Filipino parishioners of St. Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary headed by the Filipino-Chinese Women’s Association and assisted by the Filipino-Chinese Youth are preparing activities for the Chinese New Lunar Year.

The New Lunar Year falls on the 3rd of February 2011. Festivities will begin at 7:30 in the morning with rendition by the St. Joseph School Drum and Bugle Corps. The celebration of the Holy Eucharist will follow at 8:00 o’clock, to be presided by The Most Reverend Romulo G. Valles, D.D., Archbishop of Zamboanga and will be concelebrated by some priests.

Elements of the Chinese tradition in honoring God and ancestors will be integrated in the Mass. Lion Dance will also be performed by students of Zamboanga Chong Hua High School after the celebration of the Mass.

Indeed, the celebration will be a moment to ask God for His blessing upon our families and loved ones as we welcome and usher in the new year of the Metal Rabbit.

The Chinese-Filipino community of Zamboanga is cordially invited to join us in the celebration. Happy New Year! Kung Hei Fachoi!
