A 60-year-old man was beheaded, while a tricycle driver was shot to death in two separate incidents in Vitali and Licomo last Sunday.

The fatalities were identified as Mariano Guevarra, 60, of Sitio Tumitus, Vitali and Darwin Salazar of Licomo.

A police report disclosed that Guevarra’s body was discovered by a resident of Sitio Tumitus, Vitali around 9 a.m.

Police said the resident was trudging a road in Tumitus when he spotted the headless body of Guevarra.

During ocular investigation, police recovered Guevarra’s head about 15 meters away from the torso

Police suspect that Guevarra was walking in the area when a man appeared and hacked him in the neck until his head was decapitated.

In another incident, Salazar was shot to death by two unidentified assailants who pretended as passengers.

Initial investigation showed that the two men boarded Salazar’s tricycle in Licomo proper who ordered him to take them to Sitio Mambala in the same barangay.

However when they arrived in the said place, one of the two passengers pulled out a gun and shot Salazar at close range.

Salazar was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. – Dan Toribio Jr.
