Leaders of the Liberal Party (LP) or the Team PiNoy in Lamitan City have dismissed rumors that their mayoralty candidate Rosita Uy-Furigay is contemplating the of withdrawing her candidacy in favor of another candidate in the May 13 election.

“Over my dead body. It will never happen because she is gaining ground and even way ahead of her political rivals,” said last-term mayor and now aspiring for vice mayor Roderick Furigay. He is Rosita’s husband.

Furigay said that Rosita’s critics are now misleading Lamiteños by circulating false information that her wife is going to withdraw from the race giving way to Hegem Furigay to go one-on-one against Vice Mayor Arleigh Eisma who is also aspiring for the mayoralty post.

The young Furigay is the incumbent number one city councilor and the nephew of Roderick Furigay.

“There is no way for our standard bearer (Rosita) to give up. She is leading among the three aspirants. I know that the entire Team PiNoy here will make it in the election,” Roderick Furigay said.

Furigay also denied report that 11 of the 36 barangay chairmen in Lamitan have already withdrawn support to their group. Lamitan has 45 Barangays.

“This is another misleading information born out of dismay. Our supporters remain intact and our group has been continuously receiving support from other sectors,” Furigay said as he expressed optimism that the Lamiteños will prefer to elect her wife Rosita over her opponents. — JBV
