Sibugay mayoralty aspirant’s house sprayed with gunfire PDF Print E-mail

Police are investigating and trying to unmask the motorcycle-riding gunmen who opening fire on the home of a Liberal Party (LP) mayoralty candidate in Zamboanga Sibugay.

The attack took place around 2:45 a.m. Friday at the residence of LP mayoralty aspirant Joshua Baroro, 40, in Barangay Kulambugan, R.T. Lim town, according to Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) spokesman Chief Insp. Ariel Huesca.

Huesca however said that no one among the occupants of the house, including the mayoralty candidate, was injured during the incident.

Baroro and his family members were already asleep when the suspects arrived and opened fire, Huesca said.

He said the incident is believed to be politically motivated and investigation continue to unmask the suspects.

Empty shells and slugs of caliber .45 pistol were found at the place of the incident, he added.
